Me encanta Tom Gauld. Mucho.
Creating anything, I think all art is about thinking more carefully about what you’re doing that you do in everyday life and making something more carefully prepared. So, it is a sort of recipe for misgivings and overthinking and perfectionism. All of those things are sort of necessary – you kind of need to be aiming for perfection, but you also need to be forgiving that you’re not going to make it perfect. So, there’s a lot of crazy stuff that goes on in your head when you’re trying to make art.
I like the fact that there’s a deadline, and I’ve really just got one day. If I don’t have a great idea, I have to take a mediocre idea, polish it as much as I can, and make it as presentable as I can. I like the finiteness of that, and the fact that if it’s not great then the next week I can just try to make it better and that sort of suits my personality in some way.
